Sprucewold Lodge has been entertaining guests in the rustic warmth of its elegant old log structures for over 90 years. Built in the 1920s as a resort for “Victorian Rusticators,” guests arrived from Boston or New York for an extended stay. They dressed in black-tie every evening for dinner in the dining room surrounded by the log walls and the white-birch-limb railings on the balconies. Life was formal, only the surroundings were casual!
Sprucewold is wonderful piece of Maine history and, we are happy to say, is still providing a unique rustic vacation experience for our guests all these years later—

“...Boothbay Harbor is a favorite
destination farther up the coast, but a stay seems like a real escape when you spend the night at Sprucewold Lodge (633-3600; sprucewoldlodge.com), an old log lodge a mile from the village and within a 10-minute walk to a small beach.”
